Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant
We have committed to support spouses and partners of military personnel and have recognised this in our Military Veterans and Reservist Policy. The Council has special leave policies which can provide up to 10 days special leave with pay, for compassionate circumstances. The Council will view requests from spouses and partners of serving military personnel with sympathy and look to support them wherever they can for periods around pre-deployment/post-deployment or mobilisation/demobilisation, and when their serving spouse/partner is home on leave
We have established an Armed Forces Network, supporting employees who are Reservists, Veterans and spouses/partners.
About us
West Lancashire lies at the heart of the North West of England, located within easy reach of Manchester and Liverpool. With a growing economy, it is home to a top-class university and benefits from a mix of vibrant towns, picturesque villages and some of the most beautiful and productive countryside in the UK.
West Lancashire Borough Council is ambitious for West Lancashire and this is at the heart of everything we do. We deliver a wide range of services to the local community, including refuse and recycling, leisure and recreation, planning and housing. This provides a wide variety of exciting roles for people with the right skills, experience and attitude to join our fantastic team.
Around 600 people work for the Council, making us one of the borough's biggest employers. We have work locations in Skelmersdale and Ormskirk serving the community of approximately 110,300 residents.
