Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant
Essex Police first signed an Armed Forces Covenant 2014. This has been refreshed in 2021.
Since 2014 we have demonstrated our commitment in engaging, supporting and recruiting military personnel and their dependants subsequently attaining Gold award status within the Employer Recognition Scheme. Essex Police recognises the importance of military Reservists and Volunteers within our ranks and has developed a policy to support these people, enabling additional leave to be afforded to these groups.
We have been engaged with the Project Nova scheme for several years. This enterprise allows us to demonstrate our commitment in supporting and helping military veterans who find themselves in police custody. The initiative sees dedicated volunteers and professionals work to assess the needs of the veterans before implementing specialist support to assist them.
We recognise the transferable skills of military personnel within the recruitment process by providing an academic eligibility allowance for those who have served a minimum service and achieved exemplary reference on discharge.
