About us

We are a local authority located between London and the Channel Tunnel / Dover.  We are the largest borough in Kent with two towns (Ashford & Tenterden). We have numerous villages set within Kent countryside, 43 conservation areas, over 3,000 listed buildings and two large areas of outstanding natural beauty. The borough is a great place to live and work. We  provide services to the residents and businesses in Ashford, Tenterden and a large network of surrounding villages. Our services include keeping the streets clean and collecting rubbish, renting out social housing (council houses and flats), providing leisure facilities and play areas and processing council tax and housing benefits. We deal with local planning applications and we carry out land search service for home buyers. We issue licenses for taxis and licensed premises, look after parks and open spaces, and parking around the borough. Our main offices are in the town centre of Ashford, near the train station.
