Aberdeen City Council

Description

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant

Aberdeen City Council signed the Armed Forces Covenant back in 2013 and, in 2017, became a Silver Award recipient.  Our aim is to achieve the Gold award but, more importantly, we want to make sure that we are supporting our employees, or potential employees, who are in or have left the armed forces, or are a partner / spouse / close one of someone in the forces.  At the Council, we support our forces colleagues and have guidance available about this for employees and managers.  We offer 15 days' paid leave for reservists and 5 days' paid leave for Cadet Force Adult Volunteers. We also support those who are mobilised as well as their close ones.  We have recently set up a new Armed Forces Network and our People and Organisational Development team actively networks with other organisations to make sure we are doing as much as possible for our forces colleagues.
